Turkey and Syria announced on Thursday the full liberalization of cross-border transit, allowing trade to operate around the clock, Turkish Trade Minister Omar Bulat said.
Speaking at a meeting between Turkish and Syrian delegations during the Damascus International Fair, attended by Syrian Economy and Industry Minister Nidal Al-Shaar, Bulat confirmed that the move applies to the Turkish checkpoints of Cilvegozu and Oncupinar, and the Syrian crossings of Bab al-Hawa and Bab al-Salama.
The ministers recalled that on June 28, the two countries signed an agreement eliminating the traditional loading and unloading system at the borders and customs, facilitating continuous transit between Turkey, Syria, and extending to Jordan and Saudi Arabia.
