Turkish-Libyan-Italian Summit in Istanbul to Enhance Cooperation on Migration and Combat Human Trafficking

Italy announced Friday that a trilateral summit held in Istanbul with Turkey and Libya focused on enhancing cooperation to address shared challenges, particularly the management of irregular migration flows.

In a statement issued by the Italian Prime Minister’s Office and reported by Italian news agency ANSA, the summit brought together Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, and Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh.

Earlier in the day, President Erdoğan received both leaders in Istanbul as part of the trilateral cooperation framework. According to the statement, Prime Minister Meloni discussed a range of joint action plans with her Turkish and Libyan counterparts aimed at combating transnational criminal networks involved in human trafficking and improving the prevention of irregular migration waves.
