Two Israeli soldiers were killed Thursday in a shooting at the King Hussein Bridge crossing between the occupied territories and Jordan, Israeli sources said.

Israeli forces immediately closed the crossing following the attack, which drew comparisons to a similar incident in September 2024 that left three Israeli soldiers dead.

Jordan’s Public Security Directorate confirmed that the closure was carried out solely by Israeli authorities, stressing that the incident took place outside Jordanian territory.

Government spokesperson and Minister of Communications Mohammad al-Momani said Amman is “closely monitoring reports of the security incident on the opposite side of the Karameh crossing.”
