Typhoon Kajiki Claims 10 Lives and Leaves 7 Missing in Northern Thailand and Vietnam

Typhoon Kajiki has claimed at least 10 lives and left seven people missing after battering northern Thailand and Vietnam, triggering floods, landslides, and widespread destruction.

Thailand’s Disaster Management Agency reported Thursday that heavy rainfall and landslides caused by the typhoon resulted in casualties and missing persons in the northern regions of the country.

In Vietnam, authorities stated that Kajiki made landfall earlier this week before weakening into a storm, but not before inundating over 10,000 homes and facilities and damaging 86 hectares of rice fields and other crops.

The typhoon also downed power lines, leaving approximately 1.6 million people without electricity.
