Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos declared a state of emergency after at least 114 people were killed and more than 100 others went missing as Typhoon Kalmaegi—the strongest storm to hit the country this year—swept through central regions.
Severe flooding destroyed large areas and displaced thousands of residents, while rescue teams continue to search for missing persons amid difficult weather conditions.
The typhoon has since moved out of the Philippines toward the South China Sea, with authorities warning of potential new storms in the coming days.
