At least eight people were killed and over 1.4 million displaced after Typhoon Phong-Wong struck northwestern Philippines, triggering floods, landslides, and widespread power outages.

Authorities said evacuation efforts are ongoing in affected areas, with over 300,000 people still in shelters.

The typhoon comes just a week after Storm Kalmaegi, which claimed more than 220 lives.
