S. military said on Thursday that two people suspected of drug smuggling were killed in an air strike targeting a boat in the eastern Pacific Ocean, bringing the death toll from Washington’s campaign against what it calls “narco-terrorists” to at least 128.
U.S. Southern Command said in a statement posted on social media platform X that “intelligence confirmed the vessel was transiting known drug trafficking routes in the eastern Pacific and was engaged in smuggling operations.”
The command added that no U.S. personnel were injured in the operation.
The military did not provide further details on the nationalities of those killed or the organisation they were linked to.
