U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi announced on Thursday that the reward for information leading to the arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has been doubled to $50 million, accusing him of collaborating with major criminal organizations such as the “Trem de Aragua” and the “Sinaloa Cartel,” and being one of the largest drug traffickers in the world.
The Justice Department detailed the seizure of assets worth over $700 million linked to Maduro, including two private jets.
In response, Venezuela condemned the decision, with Foreign Minister Ivan Gil labeling it as “absurd disinformation,” considering it a political propaganda campaign.
