U.S. Supreme Court Allows Trump Administration to Temporarily Freeze $4 Billion in Foreign Aid

The U.S. Supreme Court on Friday granted President Donald Trump’s administration temporary approval to freeze more than $4 billion in foreign aid authorized by Congress.

In its ruling, the court stated that the president’s authority over foreign affairs “appears to outweigh the potential harm” to the intended aid recipients.

The justices emphasized that the emergency order is not a final judgment on the merits of the case but permits the administration to temporarily halt disbursement of the funds while litigation continues in lower courts.
