The U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday blocked President Donald Trump’s administration from deploying the National Guard in the Chicago area to support its strict immigration crackdown.
According to the German news agency, the justices rejected the administration’s emergency request to overturn a ruling by U.S. District Judge April Perry that barred the deployment, and an appeals court also denied intervention. The Supreme Court’s review took more than two months, with three justices—Samuel Alito, Clarence Thomas, and Neil Gorsuch—publicly dissenting.
