UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan arrived in Doha on Wednesday for what the official Emirati news agency WAM described as a “brotherly visit.”
He was received at Doha International Airport by Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, according to WAM and a statement from the Qatari Amiri Diwan.
The visit comes a day after an Israeli airstrike targeted a Hamas leadership meeting in Doha. Qatar condemned the attack, vowing to “reserve the right to respond,” after a member of its internal security forces was killed.
Hamas said its delegation, led by senior official Khalil al-Hayya, survived the assassination attempt, but confirmed the deaths of his office director Jihad Lubad, his son Hammam al-Hayya, and three aides: Abdullah Abdelwahid, Moamen Hassouna, and Ahmed al-Mamlouk.
