Ukraine’s Justice and Energy Ministers Resign Amid Major Corruption Scandal

Ukrainian Prime Minister Yuliya Svyrydenko announced on Wednesday the resignations of the Justice and Energy Ministers, following President Volodymyr Zelensky’s statement that their continued service was no longer feasible amid a major corruption scandal.

Svyrydenko wrote on social media, “The two ministers have submitted their resignations in accordance with the law.” Justice Minister Herman Halushchenko is accused of personally benefiting from a $100 million bribery case in the energy sector, which he oversaw until July 2025, while Energy Minister Svitlana Hryntsuk stated she had not violated any laws, according to AFP.
