The UN Security Council will hold a rare emergency session on Sunday to discuss Israel’s decision to occupy Gaza City.
The meeting, originally scheduled for Saturday, was postponed to 10 a.m. New York time on Sunday at the request of Britain, Denmark, France, Greece, and Slovenia.
Simultaneously, the Arab League will hold an extraordinary session to discuss mechanisms to confront the occupation of Palestine, prevent ongoing occupation crimes, and hold those responsible accountable before international courts, according to the Wafa news agency.
The Palestinian presidency condemned the occupation’s attempt to “re-occupy Gaza” in an unprecedented challenge to the international community.
This follows the Israeli Security Cabinet’s approval of a plan to control the northern Gaza Strip, supported by 13 out of 15 Security Council members.
