The UN Security Council on Thursday condemned the recent Israeli strikes targeting Hamas leaders in Doha, Qatar, last Tuesday.
In a unanimous statement by all 15 council members, including the United States, the body expressed “its strong condemnation of the recent attacks on Doha, a key mediation ground” in efforts to achieve a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, while reaffirming “support for Qatar’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
The Israeli strikes hit a meeting of Hamas leaders in Doha, resulting in the deaths of six individuals, including the son of senior Hamas official Khalil al-Hayya, four of the delegation’s aides, and a member of Qatar’s internal security forces.
