Denise Brown, the UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Sudan, warned that tens of thousands in the city of El-Fasher face a looming humanitarian catastrophe a month after the massacre that left hundreds dead.
She explained that current aid does not meet even the minimum needs of the survivors, while around 80,000 people fled on foot to the Tawila camp, which already hosts 600,000 displaced persons.
El-Fasher is considered the army’s last stronghold before it fell to the Rapid Support Forces after a long siege, amid UN warnings of worsening conditions and the absence of safe corridors to evacuate the wounded.
