The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) said hunger, war and disease defined the lives of millions of children worldwide in 2025, according to Germany’s dpa news agency.
In its annual report for 2025, UNICEF noted that children in conflict zones, including Ukraine and Sudan, face daily threats that put their lives at risk.
Christian Schneider, Executive Director of UNICEF Germany, who visited families in Ukraine last month, said: “Children in war zones are far removed from a childhood worthy of its name,” warning of severe long-term humanitarian consequences.
