US military says five suspected drug traffickers killed in Pacific strikes

The US military announced on Thursday that five people suspected of involvement in drug trafficking were killed after two boats were targeted in the Pacific Ocean, raising the total death toll from US anti-smuggling operations to around 104 since September.

In a statement posted on X, US Southern Command said the latest strikes hit two vessels in international waters that were “engaged in drug trafficking operations,” adding that three people were killed on the first boat and two on the second.
