Vietnam Evacuates Tens of Thousands Ahead of Typhoon Kajiki

Vietnamese authorities evacuated tens of thousands of coastal residents on Monday as Typhoon Kajiki moved toward the country’s central region, bringing expected winds of up to 140 kilometers per hour, Agence France-Presse (AFP) reported.

Kajiki is the fifth typhoon to strike Vietnam this year. It is currently positioned over the sea, causing rough conditions in the Gulf of Tonkin with waves reaching as high as 9.5 meters.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the storm is expected to make landfall around 3:00 p.m. local time (08:00 GMT), accompanied by winds of approximately 139 kilometers per hour.
