The Washington Post reported, citing an unnamed security official and an internal alert from the US State Department, that a drone targeted a major US diplomatic facility in Iraq on Tuesday.
The attack is believed to be a response by Iran-aligned armed groups to the ongoing US-Israeli war against Iran.
According to the report, the strike targeted the Diplomatic Support Center, a logistics hub for US diplomats located near Baghdad International Airport and Iraqi military bases.
The newspaper said six drones were launched toward the complex in Baghdad. One of them hit the US facility, while five others were shot down.
The security official, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the security situation, said there were no known casualties or injuries from the attack.
