Bolivia’s capital, La Paz, witnessed massive protests after the government decided to lift fuel subsidies, doubling gasoline and diesel prices and triggering public anger.
Thousands of workers marched toward the capital for three days before clashes erupted with police, who used tear gas to disperse demonstrators.
Authorities announced the arrest of 12 people, while union leaders warned of escalating actions, including road blockades, if the decision is not reversed.
The protests come amid the country’s worst economic crisis in decades.
