World Cup 2026 Qualifiers: Uruguay, Colombia, and Paraguay Secure Their Spots

Uruguay, Colombia, and Paraguay have officially qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, joining Argentina, Brazil, and Ecuador after Matchday 17 of the South American qualifiers.

At the Centenario Stadium in Montevideo, Argentina’s Marcelo Bielsa guided Uruguay to a convincing 3–0 victory over Peru, sealing La Celeste’s 13th World Cup appearance. Goals came from Rodrigo Aguirre (14’), Giorgian De Arrascaeta (58’), and Federico Viñas (80’).

Colombia also punched their ticket with a 3–0 win against Bolivia, courtesy of James Rodríguez (31’), Jhon Córdoba (74’), and Juan Fernando Quintero (83’).

Meanwhile, Paraguay secured their ninth World Cup participation following a goalless draw with Ecuador.
