China’s Foreign Ministry announced Thursday that President Xi Jinping held talks with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, who arrived in Beijing this week for a rare foreign visit.
Chinese media have not yet released details of the discussions, which took place at the Great Hall of the People in the capital. Kim’s visit follows his participation on Wednesday alongside Xi and Russian President Vladimir Putin in a large-scale military parade commemorating the 80th anniversary of Japan’s surrender in World War II, according to AFP.
