At least 11 people were killed and five others injured in a collision between a passenger bus and a heavy transport truck on the international highway in Abyan province, southern Yemen.

Security officials stated that the crash was caused by an improper overtaking maneuver on a hazardous bend.

The bus, which was powered by gas, caught fire and was destroyed.

The incident ranks among the deadliest road accidents in the country in recent years.
