Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Saturday the start of reforms targeting state-owned energy companies, including the nuclear energy firm Energoatom, following a major corruption scandal.
On Monday, Ukraine’s Anti-Corruption Bureau revealed the existence of a “criminal system” responsible for embezzling around $100 million in the sector, leading to the dismissal of the justice and energy ministers.
Zelensky stated on social media: “We are initiating reforms of the main state-owned companies in the energy sector.”
