Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House on Monday, joined later by several European leaders, in the first high-level gathering of its kind since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

The talks come shortly after fresh Russian strikes on Ukrainian cities. Trump, writing on his Truth Social platform, insisted there would be “no return of Crimea” and “no NATO membership” for Ukraine, arguing that Zelensky “could end the war with Russia almost immediately, if he wanted to.”

Zelensky was accompanied by top European figures including European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
