Algeria Calls for Reset of Africa-EU Partnership Priorities Amid Rise in Coups and Terrorism

Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf on Tuesday urged a reordering of priorities in the Africa–EU partnership on peace and security, citing a growing wave of military coups and escalating terrorist activity across the continent.

Speaking at the 7th African Union–European Union Cooperation and Partnership Summit in Luanda, the capital of Angola, Attaf said the partnership needs to adapt to “increasing challenges and threats facing Africa,” according to the Algerian news agency (APS).

He said the most pressing concerns include “the resurgence of unconstitutional changes of government and the intensification of terrorist activities.”
