French President Emmanuel Macron is set to chair a meeting of the Defense and National Security Council on Wednesday at the Élysée Palace. The session will be dedicated to examining the issue of political Islam in France, with a particular focus on the activities of the Muslim Brotherhood.

The meeting comes in the wake of a report prepared by two high-ranking government officials at the request of the French government. The report concluded that the group represents a “threat to national cohesion.”
