White House: Israel Approves U.S. Ceasefire Proposal, Talks with Hamas Ongoing

The White House announced Thursday that Israel has officially approved a U.S.-proposed ceasefire plan for the Gaza Strip, while negotiations with Hamas are still underway, according to Agence France-Presse (AFP).

White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt stated during a press briefing: “I can confirm that Special Envoy Steve Wichthoff and President Donald Trump sent a ceasefire proposal to Hamas, which Israel reviewed, endorsed, and signed before it was delivered.”

Leavitt emphasized that “talks are ongoing,” without providing further details on the terms or timeline of the proposed agreement.

The announcement comes amid mounting international pressure to halt the war in Gaza, which has now entered its 600th day, leaving thousands dead and creating a severe humanitarian crisis.

Israel’s formal endorsement of the ceasefire proposal marks a significant development in the long-stalled negotiations, as attention now turns to Hamas’ response and the possibility of reaching a final agreement to end the conflict.
