Russian authorities in Crimea temporarily suspended transport on the Kerch Strait Bridge on Tuesday after it was targeted in a new attack—the third of its kind since the start of the war.
Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) claimed responsibility for the operation, describing it as a “unique underwater mission” in which operatives planted explosives on the bridge’s support pillars and detonated approximately 1,100 kilograms of explosives.
“The Kerch Bridge is now in a state of emergency,” the SBU said in an official statement, noting the operation was aimed at disrupting a key logistical route used by Russian forces.
The Kerch Bridge, a vital link between mainland Russia and the annexed Crimean Peninsula, has served as a major supply corridor for Russian military operations in southern Ukraine.
The latest attack marks a significant escalation in the conflict and underscores Kyiv’s ongoing strategy to target critical Russian infrastructure as fighting intensifies on multiple fronts.
