Egypt Detains Over 200 Foreign Activists for Violating Entry Rules Amid Gaza Solidarity Movement

Egyptian authorities have detained more than 200 foreign nationals of various nationalities upon their arrival at Cairo International Airport or at their hotels, citing violations of entry procedures in connection with the “Global March to Gaza,” according to movement spokesperson Seif Abu Kishk, speaking to AFP.

The detentions come as Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated on Wednesday the importance of adhering to the country’s legal entry requirements, including obtaining proper visas and prior authorizations.

“In light of the increasing requests from foreign delegations to visit the border region near Gaza, specifically Al-Arish and the Rafah crossing, to express solidarity with the Palestinian cause, Egypt affirms the need for prior approvals before conducting such visits,” the ministry said in a statement.

The “Global March to Gaza” is an international initiative aimed at highlighting the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip and calling for an end to the blockade. Egypt remains a central player in regional mediation and aid coordination, but has emphasized that all foreign visitors must comply with national security and legal protocols.
