France has officially secured its place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup following a commanding 4-0 win over Ukraine on Thursday in the fifth and penultimate round of European qualifying, Group D.
The victory lifted the two-time World Cup champions (1998, 2018) to 13 points at the top of the group, six points clear of closest rivals Iceland and Ukraine. Azerbaijan remains at the bottom of the group with just one point. The final round of qualifiers will determine the final standings.
