The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Friday the reopening of its embassy in London after 14 years of closure, marking a step toward restoring diplomatic relations following the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime.
Foreign Minister Assad Sheibani raised the Syrian flag above the embassy building in London, officially resuming its operations, according to AFP.
Images shared on Sheibani’s X account showed him on the embassy balcony greeting a crowd of people gathered outside, waving Syrian flags.
