Pope Leo XIV arrived in Beirut for a two-day visit during which he carried a message of peace amid political and economic turmoil in the country.

An official reception was held, attended by the president, prime minister, parliament speaker, and army commander.

The visit includes tours in five cities, but does not travel to the south due to security concerns.

Coinciding with the Pope’s arrival in Beirut, the Israeli occupation bombed the Wadi Mazlem area in southern Lebanon, with heavy aerial activity and explosions heard in nearby villages, reflecting ongoing tension along the border.
