South African police announced that 11 people — including a three-year-old child — were killed after gunmen stormed a hotel in Pretoria and opened fire indiscriminately.
Twenty-five others were injured, 14 of whom were taken to the hospital.
The attack occurred in the township of Saulsville, west of the capital, in the latest episode of mass violence in a country struggling with high crime rates among its 63 million residents.
The motives remain unknown, and police have launched a wide-scale investigation to track down the perpetrators.
