US Communications Chief Warns TV Networks Over Coverage of Iran Attacks

US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Brendan Carr warned that some television networks could lose their broadcasting licenses over their coverage of the US-Israeli attacks on Iran.

In a post on the social media platform X on Saturday evening, Carr said stations that engage in what he described as misinformation and distorted reporting have a chance to correct their course before their licenses come up for renewal.

The law is clear. Television stations must serve the public interest or they will lose their licenses,” he wrote.

Carr did not name any specific television network or identify particular reports he considered false.

Earlier on Saturday, US President Donald Trump criticized media reports claiming that Iran had destroyed five US refueling aircraft in Saudi Arabia, saying the reports were inaccurate and accusing what he called fake media” of publishing misleading headlines.

Trump added that The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and other media outlets “want us to lose this war,” saying their reports “completely contradict the truth.”
