Iranian Deputy Parliament Speaker Hamid Reza Haji Babaei announced on Thursday that Tehran has received its first revenues from transit fees imposed in the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
According to the Tasnim News Agency, Babaei said that “the first revenues from transit fees have been deposited into the central bank account.”
No further details were provided regarding the amount collected or how the fees are being implemented.
The development comes amid rising tensions in the vital waterway, a key route for global energy shipments.
