Spain’s Julen Lopetegui, head coach of the Qatar national team, announced the preliminary squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will take place in the United States, Canada, and Mexico from June 11 to July 19.
The 34-player squad includes veteran striker Sebastian Soria, aged 42, Asian Player of the Year Akram Afif, and experienced captain Hassan Al-Haydos.
The goalkeepers selected are Meshaal Barsham, Mahmoud Abu Nada, Salah Zakaria, and Shehab Al-Laithi. The rest of the squad features notable names such as Almoez Ali, Edmilson Junior, Abdulaziz Hatem, Karim Boudiaf, Mohammed Muntari, and Bassam Al-Rawi.
Qatar is preparing for its second World Cup appearance after hosting the 2022 edition.
The team will compete in Group B alongside Canada, Switzerland, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
