AFC Playoff Draw for 2026 World Cup Qualification Set for July 17 in Kuala Lumpur

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) announced that the draw for the fourth round of the Asian qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup—known as the continental playoff—will take place at 10 a.m. Doha time on July 17 at AFC headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

According to the AFC’s official statement, the teams finishing third and fourth in each group from the third round—Qatar, Indonesia, Iraq, Oman, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE—will have a second chance to qualify through the playoff, scheduled to be held from October 8 to 14.

Six of Asia’s eight direct qualification spots for the 2026 World Cup have already been secured after the conclusion of the third-round group stage last month, which featured three groups of six teams each.
