France: PSG–Lyon Match Postponed Over Security Concerns Ahead of Protests

The French Professional Football League (LFP) announced on Friday that the Ligue 1 match between Paris Saint-Germain and Olympique Lyonnais, scheduled for the eighth round of the competition, had been postponed from Sunday to Monday at the request of Paris security authorities.

The decision was taken amid concerns over a possible resurgence of violence during upcoming demonstrations.

According to the league, the match has been rescheduled for Monday at 8:30 p.m. local time, instead of its original Sunday kickoff at 8:45 p.m.

The postponement comes as French authorities prepare to secure further demonstrations following riots and looting in several parts of the country last week, placing additional pressure on security services responsible for protecting public gatherings and sporting events.
