Hurricane Melissa caused widespread destruction across the Caribbean, triggering massive floods and severe damage to infrastructure in Jamaica, Cuba, Haiti, and the Dominican Republic.

Entire villages were submerged, crops destroyed, and electricity cut off for thousands of homes.

UNICEF reported that more than 700,000 children were affected by the storm, including tens of thousands displaced after their homes and schools were destroyed.
