FIFA President Gianni Infantino described the 2026 World Cup as “the greatest World Cup tournament in history,” praising the role played by the United States in organizing the event.
Speaking at a reception in New York, Infantino said the tournament had exceeded all expectations, noting that nearly seven million fans attended matches in stadiums and around 10 million gathered in the streets of the host countries, in addition to billions of viewers worldwide.
His remarks came ahead of the final between Argentina and Spain.
