Iraqi security forces dispersed dozens of protesters late Monday near the heavily fortified Green Zone in Baghdad, using tear gas.
Demonstrators had gathered in support of Iran and to condemn the killing of its Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, in U.S. airstrikes carried out in support of the Israeli occupation.
Some protesters attempted to approach the perimeter of the U.S. Embassy before police pushed them back, amid rising tensions and sporadic attacks by Iran-aligned factions on American bases inside Iraq.
