Kuwait’s Interior Ministry announced Saturday the arrest of 67 individuals accused of producing and distributing homemade alcoholic beverages that caused 23 deaths in recent days.

Authorities raided six operational factories and four under construction in residential and industrial areas.

While alcohol importation is banned in Kuwait, the black market circulates unregulated, unsafe liquor.
