Magnitude 5.6 Earthquake Hits Central Japan, Leaving 10 People Slightly Injured

A magnitude 5.6 earthquake struck Yamanashi Prefecture and nearby areas in central Japan on Friday night, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.

Authorities said no tsunami warning was issued, and no abnormal volcanic activity was detected at Mount Fuji following the quake.

The Japanese government reported on Saturday that ten people sustained minor injuries as a result of the earthquake.

Chief Cabinet Secretary Minoru Kihara said inspections found no abnormalities at nuclear facilities, including the Hamaoka Nuclear Power Plant operated by Chubu Electric Power.
