Three churches in northwestern Nigeria were attacked simultaneously by gunmen, resulting in the abduction of large numbers of worshippers, amid conflicting reports over the final toll.

Kaduna State lawmaker Othman Danlami Stingo said more than 150 people were kidnapped during the attack, which occurred during prayers in the town of Kurmin Wali in the Kajuru area.

He added that 168 people remain missing after 11 abductees returned.

No group has claimed responsibility, while police investigations continue.
