Meeting Between Iran and European Parties to Nuclear Deal Concludes in Istanbul

A meeting held in Istanbul on Friday between deputy foreign ministers of Iran and the three European signatories to the nuclear deal—Britain, France, and Germany—concluded without any public statement or official announcement at the time of publication.

According to Anadolu Agency, the talks took place at the Iranian Consulate General in Istanbul. The Iranian delegation was represented by Deputy Foreign Ministers Majid Takht-Ravanchi and Kazem Gharibabadi.

As of now, it remains unclear whether a press release will be issued regarding the outcome of the discussions, which come amid a prolonged stalemate in negotiations surrounding the 2015 nuclear accord.

A similar meeting was originally scheduled to take place on May 2 in Rome but was canceled following a delay in planned U.S.-Iran talks.
