The United Nations has warned that more than 50,000 people remain missing following the earthquakes that struck Venezuela, with the death toll expected to rise significantly.

UN officials said the number of confirmed fatalities has surpassed 900 in one of the country’s worst natural disasters in more than a century.

Rescue teams continue searching through the rubble amid severe shortages of rescue equipment and logistical resources.
