Pope Leo XIV described the war being waged by the United States and Israel against Iran as “unjust,” stressing the importance of respecting international law and promoting peace.

The remarks were made during an official visit to Spain that will continue until June 12 and includes stops in Madrid, Barcelona, and the Canary Islands.

The Pope also expressed gratitude to Spain for its support of multilateralism. The visit has drawn significant political and religious attention, particularly ahead of his scheduled address to the Spanish Parliament.
