Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said early Tuesday that Russian air defenses intercepted 46 drones launched toward the capital, adding that no casualties or damage had been reported.
In a series of Telegram posts, Sobyanin said air defense systems repelled nine waves of drones and destroyed them as they approached Moscow. He added that emergency crews were deployed to areas where drone debris fell, without providing further details.
The attack comes as Ukraine has intensified strikes inside Russian territory in recent months, including against Moscow, targeting transportation infrastructure and oil and gas storage facilities, while Russia continues its near-daily attacks on Ukraine.
