Omani Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi announced on Thursday that the sixth round of nuclear negotiations between the United States and Iran will take place on Sunday in Muscat, as part of ongoing mediation efforts by the Sultanate of Oman.
Al-Busaidi confirmed that Oman continues to facilitate dialogue between the two sides in an effort to reduce tensions and promote a peaceful resolution. “The next round will be held as scheduled, and we remain committed to supporting constructive engagement,” he said.
The United States and Iran, which severed diplomatic ties over four decades ago, have held five rounds of indirect talks since April, with Oman serving as the host and mediator. The discussions aim to reach a new agreement concerning Tehran’s nuclear program.
The renewed diplomatic push comes amid heightened regional tensions and repeated warnings from U.S. President Donald Trump, who has threatened military action if a new nuclear deal is not reached.
